14 bolt

What all has to be done to a 14 bolt to make it work in 1/2 ton. I found one with the right gears, and disk brakes for cheap.
Axles, trutrack, and get my ds yolk changed, anything else?

Good question. everyone keeps telling me to go this route. someone even told me they have a 14 bolt 2500 rearend that is six lug but every 2500 99 up i have seen is 8. there is a beautiful 10.5 14 bolt in cali for sale that was converted to 6 lug but the shipping is going to kill me to florida

I’m not suggesting everyone run out and try to purchase from them, as for 1 I’m sure it’s not cheep and 2 if most folks were to put in the effort, they could have the same thing for way less. However for folks that don’t have the time or just don’t want the hassle of piecing together components and have the cash, Drivetrain dot com has a 14-Bolt 10.5” Conversion package that is built to replace the 10-Bolt ½ ton rear end using the original backing plates, brakes and six-lug wheels from your original axle. Like I said, it may just be an option for some that have more cash than time and don’t feel like hunting down a rebuild-able axle.

The guy that has this one says he has drilled it with six lugs and it has an open dif, but there is no way I am using it that way. He also said he has moved the spring perch, so he could use it in his truck, but has gotten rid of the truck, so he is getting rid of the rearend.
