will a spin on diesel style fuel filter work on a gasoline fuel system
#1
It seems like all I see are small inline strainer type filters for gasoline fuel systems. I know the gasoline injectors are way more forgiving about debris in the fuel then a diesel injector but would higher filtration hurt anything so long as it flows adequately?
I'm thinking this filter housing:
Vulcan Performance | VUL-SRFF | Vulcan VPMAX Universal Single Remote Filter System - Alligator Performance
With a Cat filter would work. The Cat filters are 2 microns and cost 10-15 bucks and I have a stack of them around because thats what I run on my duramax. Thoughts?

As long as they would flow enough it would be fine. Might want to measure the pressure before and after it with gas pumping through it. If its only 1-2 psi it would be fine, but if its 5 or 10 you might have a problem.

In stock form the duramax engines rely on the injection pump to suck diesel out of the tank, through the filter and up into the pump. Lift pumps can be added but once you get over 8 psi at idle the idle quality can become erratic. The Cat fuel filter I would use is constructed like any spin on engine oil filter so I don't see any reason why it couldn't handle the pressure.
