Default Fuel pump/float question

06 crewcab,5.3.

Wife ran it out of fuel last week. Refueled it,.primed it, started right up. No problems afterwards..until last night. Went to drive it to the store and it died right in front of the house. I hear the pump coming on. Gas guage shows a little less than 1/8. Is it possible the float is messed up now? If so, is this a common problem? It was too late to work on,
so now im at work stressing about it.

My mil has an 01rcsb. It has had fuel float problems for the last 10 years now. As well as a few other trucks I have seen from those years. Did gm ever fix that issue?

Mine didnt work for a couple years.
Fill it up and reset the trip each time.. 250 miles later id always fill it up.
then finally replaced the FSU..

Fill it up and pay attn if it acts funny. Could be the fuel pump or something acting up?

Pump is dead. I put the guage on it, primed it, and 0 pressure. So tomorrow it goes on the lift for a new pump. I wish I was installing something better for the trucks forst work.
