Frontier ABLS
#1
I'm considering purchasing a king cab frontier. I'm torn bewteen the nismo and the SE. I know the SE doesn't have a locking rear. The nismo does, but you also get the brake based limited slip... is there a way to turn that part off. I can see it getting in the way of lots of fun/

ABLS-worked well on my first frontier, traction was better than now(no abls on this one)
NISMO-all the way if you want any kind of locking rear end, there is no aftermarket one...

right now I'm torn. Its gonna be a king cab 4x4 auto. I'm torn now between the Nismo and the SE with the power package and alum wheels. The Nismo gets the better seats, chrome bits, and the locker.... but it also gets the ABLS. The SE doesn't have the ABLS but also has a open rear... and from what I hear there is no aftermarket one for the rear axle yet :-( So if there is a way to defeat the ABLS that would be awsome..... I heard it was connected to the abs system and some have put an on/off switch on the abs system so that would be ideal for me.

Buy the nismo, abls didn't limit my ability to do donuts.
Trying to find a SE without abls is near impossible with-out giving up the power package also. I have a rare combo of no options at all...

how do you like your frontier.... The silverado I use is jsut too big and not practical for what I do. I use to just to haul my butt around and the gf.. thats it. I do use the bed lots though so I'm stuck with a king cab if i go nissan because the I need more length than the crew cab bed offers. How are you doing mpg wise... from what i hear its basically on par with a full size which kinda suprises me. I'm down to a colorado and a frontier for the finalists. The tacoma has horrible frontward visability and I hate how the options are grouped on that. The ranger is not my style and I just hate the dakota

I came down from a 96 ecsb Z-71 to a king cab it was fine, then wrecked the king cab, picked up a vw for a while and then onto this one. I like it because I want a half-ton truck in a smaller package. I get 13-14mpg(I got 10-11mpg in my last vw) in town, 20-22 on freeway at 80+mph. My truck is 4100-4200lbs doesn't feel bulky but it is on the heavy side. As for performance 235-240rwhp and 240-250rwtq seem to be the standard with a few higher and a few lower. I think this is the best way to describe the performance, I haven't had an issue blowing the doors off new 3.7L collys.
I feel the frontier has a bit to much plastic and plain inside. Looks good on the outside(not the best but years ahead of toyota and dodge). I have yet to let anyone drive it and not walk away saying how suprised they are and how fun it is with the stick.
