Wideband Before The Turbo On Sts?
#1
why cant i put the wideband before the turbo on an sts style set-up everyone always says dont do it or you will die (exageration) so i was wondering whats teh deal- i think im getting out side air filter back up to my 02 sensor (there is only 5" of pipe after the WB02 sensor it works fine @ wot but not partial throttle- keeps reading 14.7 to 15.5 so i think it keeps getting extra 02 in there.
any reasons?

with pressure on it between the manifold and turbo, the more pressure, the farther away it reads from stoich. Example....if its richer than stoich, it will read richer than it really is......leaner than stoich will read leaner than it really is. YOu can put it there but i would start off shooting for 10.5 a/f ...watch knock and lean it accordingly

I talked to three dyno tuners before I installed mine. They said to put out it before cats on driver side. Easy access and shorter cables. Said they saw very little change between pre cat, after cat, and after turbo. I put bungs in all three place so I can do my own test. just haven't done it yet.

From talking to the folks who made my WB, the pressure will kill the sensor in 1/3 the time... Second, the sensor needs to be 12 inches down stream of the turbo to read accurately (because of the increased heat).

Ya I take to the tech at innovate also. He didn't even know what an STS was. After I explained it to him he said a WB would not be accurate with that setup at all, and I better have a fund set aside because I am going to burn up the cats allot. I don't think any of the WB have done any testing on an STS setup that I have heard of. Thats the reason I put three bung in so I could test it for my self.
I have my exhaust dumped about 14 inch's after the turbo. I think with that setup you would get some fresh air up to the WB O2 like others have reported.
Not that I know, but just stating what Ive been told by people who do it for a living.
