Default Whipple Or Radix

I know this has been asked probably a million times but I am not looking for facts so to speak. I have read over many of the threads already here.

I am looking for owner thoughts .

I have a 2006 Yukon Denali and I am looking at buying a 2003 1500HD with the 6.0L

Both vehicles will be used for towing at some point or another. Trips to the lake and such. 5000lbs for about 4 - 5 hours. Both Vehicles will be Daily driven.

Looking for pros and cons of the 2 also. I know the whipple is significantly cheaper .

Also where is the best place to purchase and have a Radix installed in So. Cal. Magnacharger is only like 45 minutes from my house but their price is retail.

Thanks for the input

-Ryan

It's a no brainer. Until Whipple offers an intercooled kit I would go with the Radix hands down. This is coming from a Whipple owner too. Damn Radix wasnt out there when I bought my Whipple a few years back

appreciate the input. what kind of boost level is safe for my above mentioned applications? The truck will be the one getting the blower first.

i think magnacharger puts a 3.3 pulley on the LQ4 for use as a towing rig, guessing 5-6lbs boost.

My LQ4 with a 3.2" makes 6-7psi. I have a small cam in it as well that I think bleeds a little off. I vote Radix. I have one, that is one reason but, I have never had an issue with it. It's been on my Tahoe for 8 months or so. Customer service is top notch.

I have the whipple, i received pretty good customer service and the kit was easy to install and the instructions were easy to understand. I have read in the past that whipple was sub-par in the customer service department but i think maybe since they started producing their own blowers now, maybe they are trying to bump up their P/R. I am sorry to say that i have not had enough "street time" on my Whipple to give you a solid answer yet. I would have probably gone with the Radix simply because of the way they are praised here if they made a kit for my 8.1L, but they dont. Good luck.

I'd have to give the nod to the Radix as well. On low boost 5-6psi the IATs are not too bad and there are a few things you can do to lower them even further for even better gains.

I'm not done tuning mine yet but on my 5.3L with heads and an N/A cam I am at 435rwhp on 5.8 psi (3.70 pulley).
