I知 going to go term X so I値l do a little bit of the tuning but I値l use a local guy that everyone swears by who I致e already spoken too as well. I like in Huntington Beach CA so there is a lot of tuners around

Well yeah, it's a more; but paying 850 for a VS or 1000 for a BW, I'm going BW all day and never thinking about it. I haven't seen VS on anything OE yet. I just worked on a trailer jockey with an 8.2 Detroit in it.... and guess what was sitting in the valley? A big ol BW. Covered in oil sweat/goo, but churning out 22psi all day like that's it job

I've got over 300k miles on a BW S475 that was on a LQ4.
I dont think a Chinese unit will last that long.
Like I mentioned, my daily will always have a BW.
the Chinese stuff is ok for putting on a toy but I can't trust them to tow a thousand miles from home. I was towing more than what the truck was rated for and it would stay in boost for a really long time so I know it got warm but most the time it was just there free spinning with no load so I'm sure that's why it lasted a long time.
Unlike a diesel where they stay in boost more times than not, that puts a substantial load on the bearings plus heat.
I started out running M1 5w30 then switched to Delo 5w40 somewhere in there. I never shut the engine off without letting it cool off for a little while. I've seen what happens to them when they are shut off hot on diesels and the buildup starts, then over time it will restrict the oil flow and kill bearings.
I tried to be smart about it and it was good to me. i need to send it in to be checked out and freshened up before putting it on another project.

The VSRacing turbo's are good stuff. I like that they are significantly smaller than BW turbos. I have a 78/75 cast version on my 6L and it has taken a beating towing and I would recommend a 78/75 to the original poster. I wish I had gotten the billet wheel for a little more money, but whatever. With COVID and fuel prices lately I've only put 20k miles on my truck in the last two years since installing the turbo, but it works great. I highly recommend upgrading the trans before installing the turbo. My 300K stock 4L80E starting making noise a few thousand miles after installing the turbo (was just worn out and the turbo enhanced the issue). A rebuild/Jakes stage 4 upgrade that I did myself and it has been great.

I'm not saying VSR turbos are trash and deserve to be thrown away, I am just saying that they don't have the record that BW has, and for the cost; its silly to not go BW
About every 6mo I reconsider going turbo on my Tahoe, and this thread is no different lmao. VSR 78/75 T4 with a billet wheel tops out at $790 before shipping/tax
The BW S475 T4 75/74 is $1015 before shipping/tax
I understand its more, I am not refuting that. And I understand on paper that the VSR comes on 700-1000rpm sooner with the billet gen2 wheel. But if you have to replace it...... just seems a little risky, esp if you rely on the vehicle
The BW is a buy once cry once deal, imo. Used BWs pop up all the time too
