Hey guys, I was a part of the Huron group purchase.

truck is a 2001 1500, with a 5.3 and 4l60e. I have a 6.0 and 4l80e in the garage.

I want to stick with the 5.3 for right now but obviously I will be putting the 4l80e in.

I want to keep the 5.3 stock and run it with boost and I’m planning to run terminator x max on it too since that’s what I’m running on my Chevelle as well. Also planning on running deatcshwerks 60lb injectors and their 400dw pump. Nothing crazy at only around 8-10 PSI. Not looking to set records just have fun and make more power

what size turbo would you guys recommend with a 3” v band outlet for the Huron kit. A 78/75 .96 ar? The truck is a daily driver, occasionally towing, road trips to havasu and the mountains etc.

Eventually I’ll build the 6.0 wit forged internals and etc but I want to see what I can do with the stock 5.3 in the mean time.

Don't mean to go off topic but that truck is the factory green? Looks a little dark to be it but **** the paint looks amazing.

 

yes it’s the forest green metallic or whatever the name is. Body has 270k on it. I got it from the org owner for $2500 in March. Took all the trim and emblems off and detailed the crap out of it.

 

Kinda depends on your goals, do you plan to spin it to 6000 or higher rpm? I wanted midrange power and max 6000 rpm so I went with Turbonetics TC78, probably a bit small for your future 6.0 but it spools fast on my 5.3, however it does run out of steam at 5300 rpm and power drops off. For me its exactly what I wanted, on 12 psi I make 460 hp and 535 tq, with a 3200 stall its an entirely diffferent truck. I wanted boost to come on quick and it does.

 

Tuned a truck the other day and it had a VS billet 78/75 and it made 812 to the tire on a stock LY6 and some type of turbo cam. It spooled very quick and was fun to drive on 18psi haha.

My plan is 91 octane since it is a daily driver and road trip vehicle, so I need fuel that’ll be available.

 

Got a few buddys in on the Huron group buy and got all them to get the Billet 78/75. Since the truck the other day was really fun to drive.
91 wont be a problem. Who is going to be doing your tuning?
