Default What to install first?

Hey all,

Brand new here and have been enjoying reading all the informative posts. I have a 02 Tahoe with a 5.3. Engine is modded; cam, valve train, pistons, rods and I just blew up my 4L60. I'm thinking about a Stage 2 4L80e from Jakes. Long term, I was planning on putting a 7875 .96 A/R turbo on it at some point but my conversation with Jakes last night has me second guessing. They helped me realize that the converter for a N/A vs forced will be different and I have to let them know which direction I want to go when I place my order. So I'm thinking about doing the turbo now and my question is, what should I start with? 4L80e will take 4 weeks to get here and the turbo kit can be here in half the time. I've swapped tranny's before but have never installed a turbo. Should I install the turbo before or after the 4L80?

You don't even need to have a "stage" anything transmission either. A stock 4L80e would handle a turbo no problem, so sourcing a local unit from a wrecker or a dealer/rebuilder could be much faster.

Besides you are limited to around 500-550whp in that truck if it's running the stock bottom end.

Hello,

I have a few questions about the swap:

I have a 07 NNBS, which year 4L80 will work in my truck?

Or will any of them work?

Are there any years to avoid?

Who makes the best crossmember for the swap?

Can any reputable tuner tune for the new trans?

email them to make sure it’s the NNBS one.
PM me, I can send the pin out to do yourself on the TCM and round plug. Then buy a new VSS connector and splice in.
mom an electrician. Took me about an hour. Average guy can probably do the same.
I never asked compatibility in years. Just told the builder what year truck I had.
mall in all, a case of beer and a days worth of work.
