Default What do I lack of being ready to INSTALL?? STS

Alright, It is KILLING me...I want to go ahead and install my Rear Mount on my 8.1L but I can't afford alot of down time. I am trying to get everything ready so down time is at a minimum. Remember, I am using a used universal kit, so everything isn't made for the setup, I am doing most of it myself. What are the BIG things I am missing or something that will not work?
(sorry, some of my questions may be ignorant or common sense to you, but I am a begginer...and I can't spell for ****)

I HAVE:
1. 76mm Precision Turbo
2. Wastegate..going to try one wastegate to start out with
3. Turbo Flange w/ Y-pipe
4. Intercooler 25" x 12" x 3" Big enough for 7-9lbs of boost?
5. Return Oil Pump and lines and wiring harness
6. Stainless Oil Line - The one I have is too short. Can I get an adapter to conect another or should I just get a new, longer one?
7. Intake Tubing and Silicone Couplers and T-bolts - how much turbulance will a few NON-mandrel bent pipes cause. They are between the intercooler and the motor and are bent with an exhaust pipe bender
8. Oil Catch Can - not completely sure how to hook up
9. EBCS
10. 60# injectors (thanks to pt.net member 00Z71)
11. MSD Fuel Pump Booster- I know a Walbro or sorts would be better, but I have heard the 8.1 trucks have a healthy fuel pump, and I already have this...we will try for now
12. Tune

I know I need to get a boost guage, fuel pressure guage, and I am going to run a EGT guage because I tow HEAVY stuff.
How bad do I need a BOV if I stay in the 4-5 lbs boost range. I am going to get one, but budget is limited right now.

I too am about to go FI. For me the number one things to do first are beef up the tranny the best I can. Corvette servo, shift pressures, ETC and this goes along with your tune. I do have HP tuners but I will also be getting a tune with my kit. I am not sure with your ECM but I know on my E38 ECM the max I can go on injectors is around 64LBS. I also have to be concerned with exceeding the flow/HZ of the VE and MAF tables. IF this happens there is a way around it but it’s not a walk in the park that for sure. So I am curious as to see the tune they send me. I believe I will have quite a bit of work to in that regards to make the tune right. But back to the subject of the install I also will have a Fuel pressure gauge, wideband gauge and Boost gauge all in the truck before the blower ever goes on.

If i were you, i would lay everything out and try to make sure you have everything.. I had to install my STS 3 times because i would almost be thru and be missing a few peices. So i had to take it all off and wait till i got off work the next day to get the missing parts and start over.

<non sponsor link>

You dont NEED a BOV.. i didnt run one for over a year. only reason i got one is because i was plannin on turning up the boost above 5#.

If all you have is a few exhaust peices, use them. ITs not goin to matter much at all. Boost is Boost.

on the oil line, just get a female coupling. and get another line that will reach. do you know if its a -4an or -6an?

Not really sure, why.

Beefing the tranny isn't quite as easy for me. I have the Allison 5 speed. It is a pretty tuff tranny, but a transgo is like $800, not including install.

just wondering.. you can find a coupling for $4 or so plus a short line to fit what you need...

what about the Transgo JR shift kit for the Ally?

I can't find the Jr. kit for the older ones. I can only find them for like 2004 and up. Didn't know if they even made the Jr. for them.

Not much you can do with the 5 speeds short of the suncoast III, IV, or V. I am putting 425'ish hp to the ground and 515'ish torque to the ground and the Allison has stayed tight with absolutely no issues. Just dont drop the 5-4 shift while in boost. Those are the weakest clutch packs in the Allison. Look over to the deisel place forum for lots of good info on the Allison trany's.

I would get a BOV. You don't exactly need it, but that just depends on how much compressor surge you can handle. I always cringe when i here mine.

I did all my charge piping, wiring, and pump before I actually took the truck down. Look at what you can do in the evenings and keep it drivable. You can get the install done and only be down for one day. I would recommend a BOV.
I thought the stainless oil line was AN-3, but maybe it was 4. IDK. Kinda out of it right now. Don't listen to what I say.
