wastegate question?

you could also take it off and take it part maybe a piece of carbon build up broke off and could of made it stick open. maybe sand the exhaust build up off and try reinstalling it and see if the helps. new wastegates are about 300 or so

Are you talking about the waste gate at the back of the truck by the turbo, or the Blow off valve under the hood, buy the throttle body???

well no matter what at idle your wastegate should not be open. if it is blowing or sucking air then there is something not right. wastegates should only come open when you let off the throttle and the should dump the exhaust pressure. its cool that your new to the turbo world you have to start at some point. I bought my truck two year ago with a turbo kit already installed and i didnt no the first thing about boost but i know now.

you should still be hitting boost. the only way you woulndnt hit boost is if your blow off valve is staying open. if the waste gate is open you would just need more RPMS to hit full boost.

the waste gate at the back of the truck...yeah i installed it all last week everynight after work....i got a killer deal so i couldnt pass it up

i just went out and started it and i looked at it, it looks closed but its suckin and blowin pretty bad

Try pulling it off and getting a closer look.
If you have a helper, see if it does it at higher RPM. What RPM is your idle at?
