Default Want to built turbo setup for a 4.8

Afternoon gentlemen,
Basically after reading about most of the awesome trucks on here, I want to build a turbo setup for my chariot now. My knowledge base is at a minimum but i have two things going for me, i'm mechanically inclined and i can read, so i figure that's a start at least. I want to build it because if i do it myself then i will learn it and know how it works, no better way to learn that just do it. So i'm looking for someone to point me in the right direction toward a guide of how to achieve this. I searched the threads and couldn't find what i was looking for, but also possible i just missed it. I'm in no hurry to finish this project as it is more important to me to learn and do it correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Doug

I had to chuckle to myself reading this thread. I saw your introduction thread where someone showed you Foose04's truck with the turbo and nitrous set up, and now you want more info. Lol, Welcome from the Missouri side of the border by the way.

As for info, just read all the info and project threads you can about forced induction. I've been doing the same thing since about October, and still learning all the time.

I'll help out to get you in the general direction you need.

You'll probably be looking for a T4 exhaust flange some where in the size of a 70-76 mm turbo.

KB Racing and Trick Performance Products are two vendors on here with excellent products and reputations.

You'll need tuning to adjust for the changes, and will be looking at replacing your factory fuel pump and injectors with items that can flow more fuel.

Just keep reading, you'll gather the essentials rather quickly, then you can fine tune the products you buy to what you need out of the system.

you working on your 04 in your Sig?

IF it were me heres what id do..

Go ahead and get you a good Posi traction, Then find you a 4L80E and get it put in with a HD2 shift kit. Get your fuel system in and sorted out with big enough injectors.
Then go get your turbo and have fun!!
You should have a bullet proof setup from there out.
Might consider a Turbo cam?

a 76mm would be pretty wicked on the 4.8 on the top end for sure!

start w/ the small stuff first. gears, lsd, cam, valve springs. don't just jump into a turbo kit. your get a lot more out of it w/ other mods first. if you plan on going turbo make sure your cam gears etc are boost friendly.

Your goin to need a lil milling on the 243 heads to get the CR back up to stock 9.1 i believe.

A isky triple 12 turbo cam and springs.

What gears do you have?
