and honestly, id do teh LS6 cam before the LS9 cam.. the LS9 is too soft down low.
or go ahead and get a isky custom grind like the triple 12, gives you a good bit of low end where you need it and makes for a great DD cam.

i'd start w/ tranny (4l80e)and good lsd (trutrac etc). be able to get the added power down and not break ****. than start added more power. like said isky has some bad turbo cams or the ls6 cam. throw some good valve springs in there. i run Patriot dual golds but there are other options. i made 440rwhp on 8# and thats all you need on the street.

They are usually sourced from 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, as well as vans.

You goin to replace your nv3500? 5 speed with a 4l80e out of a 1500hd, 2500hd, or 3500hd. They are silly strong for a stock transmission.

A little confused by this statement. I'd like to keep the 5 speed if that's what your asking, is the trans that i have so bad? Can i not build it up or is the 4l80e just that much better?

the NV3500 (if thats what you have) doesnt like to be shifted to fast especially at high rpms. Atleast thats my experience with them.

If you wanna stay with a Manual trans, go with a built T56?

i had really good luck w/ mine holding up, but its awful to shift. its even worse the more power you start sending thru it. t56 would be the best manual. if you like shifting get a 4l80 w/ manual valve body. i'd never go back to the 5 speed. now running a manual th400. you will probably want OD tho.
