And how fast do you think it comes out of that loaded slug? Does boost mean power? Ive made boost with no timing, and running it stupid rich, years ago. But then I was leaving "with boost" yet no power.

^^^ Yep! Whats the point of making "boost" without power? Timing makes power which makes more boost!

 

This is where the two step comes in... 9 lbs of boost on 2step = no power or half power, but as soon as you launch you start with 9 lbs at full power...

 

Yes but, In my experience, a 2 step really doesn't "make" boost. It works better to hold down boost/power. If you can only make 2 psi with the brake and gas mashed then your stall is too low, then its not really gonna help you "make" more boost with out power just cuz it starts missing and holding a low rpm. Even if you can get against the rev limiter, then it will still take for ever to "make" the boost. Only real way to make more boost is with a higher stall or a smaller turbo.

 

I think at this point I'll buy a meth kit and crank the boost **** and make more power once I get rolling. Seems like the right move. Really don't want to daily a bigger stall.

 

Msd 2 step set at 3500 RPMs made about 6 psi from second bulb till green bulb, if i want more boost before then i just add timing to the area im while im on the transbrake/2 step, heres a vid to help explain... This is on a loose 3400 stall with a Th400 tranny

What you said is true and some people interperte the 2 step wrong...
The 2 step will not make you build more boost.. It will help you by letting build more boost without tires breaking loose, but if you do not have the the right converter sized to the turbo, it will do nothing for you...
With 2 step off, I can brake stall about 3700 rpm and will start building boost, but the tires will break loose at about 4 psi
With 2 step on and set at 3600 rpm, I will brake stall and start building boost (9psi) so far, and my brakes will still hold.

 

I also like the 2 step, for me it helped add consistency.. when I dont get all excited at the line that is... The truck will make set psi at set rpm and will launch at that set rpm... Just food for thought.
