That's kinda what I wanted to hear, but you know how you always think your own stuff is worth more.
I'm hoping to go with a stroker 408-418. It won't have as much hp, but it should keep me happy. Plus i'm going to be towing more, and I think the stroker will be better suited.

You will not be happy with a NA motor after have a FI 6L. Just ask Thunder550. Even if you cut the boost back to 5lbs for towing, that about like having a NA motor that is around 500 CI. Your NA 418 motor will probable use oil and have about 60 or so less hp and I'd have to guess 80 less ftlbs of torque then your 6L on just 5 lbs especially on the low end. IMHO it would be a big step backward from what you have now, unless there is some MAJOR problem with the 6L.

I've been through several trans, and also a motor. It is too tempting to turn up the boost LOL. I'm toning it down to be more reliable. I also have been pulling a trailer more this year. It has pulled without issue, but I would be more at ease without worrying about EGTs etc.

The 6l has a knock. I have some gold in the oil, so probably a bearing maybe more. I'm also ready to try something different.

Did you think about a 4L80E? I'm keeping my boost down to about 9psi... and am still going to build a 4L80E. FWIW, I drive my truck everyday. Although I don't have any plans for towing I would definitely turn the boost down to about 4-5 psi if I were to hook up a trailer with any real weight...
Good Luck

Yeah, the 80 has been on the list for awhile. Performabuilt is sending me another unit, so I'm going to give it a try first. I haven't had the best luck so far, but we are going with a different converter and a few other changes. Hopefully that is taken care of.
