is that just a 5.3 thing or because of the weight?
There is a substantial difference between gen 3 and gen 4 rods.
Gen 3 is 1999-2004
Gen 4 is is 2004.5-Current.
So pretty much you could get the truck going with a turbo on lowerish boost (8-10psi) while you get your new engine setup ready.. Or just gather parts and swap in the 6.0 and then bolt on the turbo stuff.. Sell the 5.3/4l60 and get a good bit of money back out of the deal.

Also thought about buying this and trying to find the “nobody has any” adapter plates and drive belt parts
There was one company building ls adapter intakes and other parts for that blower, but they stopped production last year. I don't think they built the parts to long, and had said material costs went ridiculous so they ended the project.
There is another small outfit building adapter kits for the Ford branded blowers that used to be found as cheap takeoffs. All in I think that setup is approaching $4k to get all of the drive brackets and custom lower intake. Now those blowers won't be as cheap either if they can be adapted to LS platform so easily.
Richard Holdener just did a series on the blower, on YouTube.
