lmao under a 1000 dollars for a boosted truck hahahaha iam gonna die well lets see for my truck hmmmmm i spent about a 1000 bucks in just things needed before turbo and thats not including trans.(already have a built unit) just alone a tune is 500 so if you can find a turbo that isnt made out of pots and pans for 500 bucks then you just need hmmmm everything else!!!!

how cheap do u think I could Jerry Rig a turbo in my truck? Im really just looking for a REALLY cheap way to make my truck quick for now. I really want something new to run while were in TX.. I dont think the 6.0 will happen cuz I need to pay my bike off before I drop a bill and a half on a motor... Ebay away!

Thanks everyone who kept "mr. I smashed a mustang in my stock truck" off my back. F-that guy cuz he doesnt know ****.
ANYWAY. I know a tune is gonna be pricey, Nic D told me about 450..
but back to the reality. This is simply an idea I've been toying with. Everyone I've seen has made REALLY decent progress with just a turbo, no real big internal upgrades. So far I've found some turbo's themselves for about 200. Im not expecting miracles from myself but when Im pretty determined I can make it happen. Im still not sure if I want N/A or FI, but I dont know of much else I can do to my 4.8 to get it moving. Some heads obviously to get the compression up... what will that get me, maybe 1/2 a second? What about doing some internals? maybe a 5.3 crank and some dished pistons? I donno maybe Im talking out my ***. Maybe Im asking for help now haha most of u know a WHOLE lot more than me.. (aside from geestyle)
so what else besides heads to keep my truck N/A and not spend a **** ton? I plan on keeping my heads and getting them to a machine shop when I can

you need to listen to these guys and forget about a ~$1000 turbo set up. cheap and easy power can be had with a 6.0 or some nitrous. maybe a stall. you see big gains with all of those things. if your really want turbo on a budget you better figure on closer to $3k.
not sure what turbos you are looking at but a something like a 50trim t4 is too small to be worth the effort and you are probably looking at turbos that are smaller than that. best bet for a cheap turbo would be the master power 70 for around $600. then start adding up the bucks from there.

Devan I hate to do this, but I gotta agree with Jim on this one. I really doubt you'll be able to put a good kit together for any less than $2500 to $3000. You may be able to put a kit together, but I guarantee you that you will have nonstop problems with it, and the turbo will not be sized correctly for your engine, which could cause a whole host of other problems. If you're not going to do it right the first time around it's really not worth doing because I can guarantee you than you will pay for it two or three times over in the long run. If you're really serious about putting a turbo setup on your truck, start putting some money aside now and wait until you can afford to put a decent kit together AND have money left over for the other parts that will start breaking under the newfound power.
I've been down the road you're looking to jump onto before, and let's just say that if I had taken my time and done it right the first time I would probably have spent a hell of a lot less money than I have at this point.
The absolute cheapest I can see you getting a turbo kit for is trying to pick up a used, good condition, complete STS kit for the low $2000's, and that doesn't include a tune or fuel system.
