Default Turbo Cam Advice

Hey guys, I found a low mile 2006 LQ4 to replace the 4.8 in my truck. It currently has a SDPC HT1 Cam (214/218 .559/.563 111 LSA) and I can't decide on whether to reuse that cam in the LQ4, or get something different(possibly a little more aggressive). Its not my daily, mostly street driven with the occasional trip to the track just for fun. The turbo will stay a S369. The trans is a 4l80e with a Circle D 3200 converter, and the rear end has 3.70 gears. I'd initially like to run about 10lbs on pump gas, and 15 on E85 down the road. What do you guys think? Should I keep it? Anyone have experience with this cam or turbo on a LQ4? Thanks in advance!

That turbo isn’t going to like trying to support 15psi on a Lq4, definitely on the small side.

If it's not a daily, I'd go for a hotter cam, more spec'd for turbo. You'll regret not doing it. Also, a turbo is much easier to swap out than a cam is.

I just had a guy make 680 whp on a lq4 with my 218 camshaft and that turbo. I was kinda surprised it made that power on a 6.0L, and spool was instant.

I agree. I have the motor on the stand now, so if there’s ever a time to do it, it’s now.

He was on E85 on that one. Not sure how much was left in it. I was pretty surprised it made that with that small turbo. Gained like 100~120 whp over the stock cam at same boost.

I had a stock48 3x12 in my 5.3 build and it was a badass little cam. Made night and day difference driving it on the street over the stock cam. Also picked up 60hp up top and 90 under the curve same boost level.
