Default Turbo....

Just curious everyones opinion, If I were to run a turbo setup what turbo do you think would be the best for my combo. I am assuming I would want a T6.

370ci, will handle 7k rpm no problem. I am assuming being a 4 bolt block 22ish psi would be max. TEA TFS 225 heads.

The truck is heavy so I don't want something that takes forever to spool but naturally I want to let it breathe on the big end.

Not sure what intake manifold I would run, open to opinions.

Basically everything else would be good to go, I have the fuel system, 4" exhaust with a cutout, meth etc.

Whatever I decided to do I don't want a cheap intercooler etc. It will be done right from the start. I plan to play with my 2300 more but this may be the next step at some point.

My first weak link as far as the motor would most likely be the heads lifting.

Callies Dragonslayer crank, Ultra Billet rods, wiseco pistons, LS9 Gaskets, Arp Pro Studs. I would naturally change my cam, mines not optimal for a turbo (230/242 115)

Whatever I can get out of it with 22ish psi. Good heads, moderate cam and some RPM.

If you do a T6 I'd recommend quick spool valve. Also IMO those big Holley Hi rams look cool but are probably a big waste of money. I recently was recently back on the dyno with my truck after installing a quick spool valve, switching from a Edelbrock Proflow intake and ls3 TB back to stock intake and stock 78mm TB, and Changing my truck to run flex fuel. With the bigger intake and no quick spool valve the truck made 708hp and 674 ft lbs at the wheels on 91 + meth with 14 pounds of boost. With stock intake, stock TB, and quick spool valve with 71% ethanol in the tank it made 798hp and over 800 ft-lbs at the wheels on 14 pound of boost. Best pull was at 16 pounds of boost and made 817hp and 854 ft-lbs.

Anyways my point is, I realize that most of my gains were from switching from 91 to flex but I was surprised that we didn't have to up the boost more to over come the smaller stock intake, stock TB, and quick spool valve we added. The truck definitely has more in it too but on my stock bottom we thought that was good enough for now. So after making that on my stock intake and TB along with what stock48 does with his stock intake and TB in his truck I've come to the conclusion that those big intakes probably aren't worth it.

Last 370 I had dyno'd made a tad over 700hp at 10psi.
Then the drive shaft went south. . Well north into the rafters.
22psi is gonna be a fun ride.

Large Holley intakes look pretty but not needed for big power.
Lots of stock intake builds out there making big power.

I think the hardest thing to give up is the instant bottom snap I have now. 15-17psi instantly.

I'd probably look into a T4 76/92 from Borg. Lots of similar options, but seeing as most people are borg fans here.. T6 won't be necessary to lift heads.

So whats the advantages and disadvantages to a similarly sized T4 vs T6?
