Yea GEN1 is completely different prep than a GEN3. GEN1 has a lot better head gasket sealing but bottom end is a lot weaker. 4 bolt caps on center mains only then with no skirted block the caps walk alot easier. The GEN 1 chevelle had a partally filled 4bolt main with stock caps, and studs I think. The truck is same setup with no fill. By the time you spend the $ converting a gen1 to billet splayed caps, and filling the block you would be better off buying a aftermarket block. I think a good 4bolt main with studs should be fine for - S475 and ~700hp. 900 is pushing it. Good machine work, balance, and light parts along with keeping RPM down is key to survial with a factory block.

Yea the Gen 3s get the home court advantage of having the deep skirt block but other than that, eh not really my thing. I suppose one could argue a little more rigidity in the lifter valley as well but I don't have to pull my heads to change lifters either. What I'm going for isn't going to be cheap but the way I justify it is its no more expensive then a 450 hp 383 stroker crate motor would be. The turbo and related parts of course will all be added cost on top of that but for the amount of power I stand to gain its very justifiable.

So what would be the best turbo for a 416 ls3 built for 1000hp? Would the new hPC GT-K 1050 be good? Looks like it might be small. Maybe 2?

Way too small on the exh side but would still run ok if you keep rpm's below 5K. You need something like a PT88 or GT88 to make big power on that many CI's. A S480 would be a decent mid ground turbo for that.

Alright my $210 dollar turbo header kit didn't turn out quite so good. It may have been made for a SBC but not a SBC in a 95 chevy. The drivers side fits great but the passengers side is nowhere near going to fit. So now I get to fab up a passengers side header for it. Going to go with a log style and would like to use schedule 40 pipe. I'm going to need a flange preferably 1/2 inches thick, some schedule 40 90 degree elbows and a schedule 40 3 inch mandrel bent pipe. Going to need a turbo flange as well.

Is there a one stop shop turbo kit fabrication supplier that will have all the various bends and flanges and what not?
