My LQ4 ate the camshaft after 70,000 fun miles, 2 cam swaps and an Edelbrock E-force (TVS2300) for the last 25,000 miles.
The whole package was as follows:
LQ4, LS2 heads, 1 3/4" headers, dual 3" exhaust
Walbro 400
Tick Performance Blower Stage 1 V2 Camshaft
225/237 | .62x"/.61x" | LSA116+5
I was getting a max of 7psi of boost with a 3.5" pulley.
I'd like to remove the 100 pounds from the front of the car that was added by the supercharger, so I was wondering if it's possible to get similar power (who would accept less?) from an aluminum 5.3 with a cam swap and turning up the boost to 10-12?

Imo yes maybe even more if you port the heads. Probably less torque off the bottom though. The whole package depends on what your truck weighs. If it's a pig then I probably wouldn't. Nice setup btw sorry it died.

It's a BMW car, weighs about 4,000 lbs. T56 Magnum trans with 3.62 gears. The other issue is finding a decent L33 that doesn't have 150k+ miles on it.
Would the PRC porting be a good way to go? I've been seeing mixed reviews on that service.

I would absolutely do it then. Think you'll be very happy with the weight savings vs power. Through Texas Speed? Overall I think the reviews have been good but someone here with a late model truck did have an issue with a cam when they were having power outages due to road construction. I can't comment on their reliability but I likely will be using them when it's time.

I always go to car-part.com. Not sure where else to look anymore except craigslist. Almost makes you want to do a gm crate motor because some of these salvage yards think their **** is made of gold lol.

I'd make that swap in a heartbeat especially in a car. The head work will make the whole package more efficient and probably actually lower your boost number. In a car, it's a no brainer.
