Supercharged 5.3
I have a 2006 Sierra I’m thinking about putting a supercharger on. How much psi can I run on the stock head bolts, the kit I’m looking at says it runs 6-8 psi it’s the ls swap vortech. https://www.lsxceleration.com/vortec...ls-truck-fead/

I ran 12psi through my otherwise stock 2002 5.3, did it twice.
Round one: stock exhaust, LS9 cam, P1SC w/ w2a: 477whp
Round two: Full exhaust, 3.5" w/ TSP 1 7/8 LTs, 212/218x .550 cam, P1SC: never dyno'd
I am actually looking to sell the P1 kit, if you're interested.
But to answer your question, I wouldnt open the motor. Just run it.

Goes without saying tune needs to be on point or you can easily lose it at 7-8 lbs. My truck is at 10 and with a custom tune its fine. 07 was 8.5 and it trashed several pistons because of a too aggressive tuner. Forged 6.0...same result. Also, address your trans for sure. Good luck and have fun!

You will want to investigate a couple things:
A) Good tuner (I trust mine with my life, and he hasnt let me down yet)
B) Gen4 MAF (and scale the table accordingly) or speed density operating system w/ 2Bar MAP
C) Bigger pump: I have a Walbro 255, supposedly will support 500hp, I think thats pushing. I would say 420 to be safe for a long time. I made 477 for ~10k mi, but I wasnt WOT the whole time. We were certainly running out of fuel on the Walbro with 12psi. Consider the 477 a glory pass.

I ran 8-9 psi for three years then bumped it up to 11- 340 miles later it ate a bearing this year
that was a 04 lm7 with milled heads and tr220 cam running at 11.4 afr and 10 degrees before IAT temps got to high and would drop to 6 degrees - running a walbro 255 in tank- made 417 wheel last year before pulley swap
