Supercharged 8.1 Suburban Project almost complete!
#1
Most of the mods to this truck are now complete. It went to the body shop with less than 50 miles on the odometer to have the bottom sprayed pewter and the HD Silverado hood, grill and bumper installed. The next stop was to have the factory head unit replaced with a Pioneer 7300 in dash DVD player along with a Pioneer 12 disk changer, Pioneer AV switcher, Satellite tuner, Microsoft X-Box and Alpine screens. The AV switcher allows 3 different audio/video sources to be used at the same time.
Next it was time for some performance and appearence upgrades. A Whipple supercharger is now feeding this 8.1 motor. It adds a little over 100 horsepower and 130 ft-lb torque. Whipple will have an intercooler assembly available in a few weeks. That will be good for another 30+ horsepower. The stock exhaust manifolds were replaced with a set of The Other Guy's long tube headers. The installation was pretty straightforward and they didn't really make the truck much louder. The rest of the exhaust will remain stock (I want this one to be quite) but a set of Corsa tips will dress things up a little.
Other mods include - custom computer tuning to eliminate the speed govenor and torque management, Muth Signal Mirrors, Precision Billet Grill, Xenon High Intensity Headlights with Stage II high and low beams and a PIAA airdam with 40 series driving lights.
A set of 20" Evolution wheels will be going on in the Spring to finish the truck's mods.
Detailed info and a cool burnout video can be found in the 2002 Suburban section of the website.

That sounds like it will kick A$$. Are you planning on a torque converter ? What kind of times are you expecting ? <img src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" border="0" alt="[hail]" /> Supercharged Suburban <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

Fast4.8: Don't have a converter planned for this truck but who knows what will happen after it goes to the track. I'll like to see some low 15 to possibly high 14 second ETs. Planning for the low 15s right now though.
