STS or Whipple, $, ease of install etc. please help

on tbyrnemotorsports website they have a blowoff valve especially for manuals that they sell as an option to the STS kit, It would be a nice route to take, but I think i'd rather build the engine up, cam, alum, heads, pistons, etc. before bolting on a power mod, I just think that would be the way to do it, and every quote I've got for the STS is a lot of $$$$$, It'll be nice to see what TIEROD does to his new truck and see how it runs, hopefully he puts the STS back on it!

Like i said previously, for reliability and ease of installation, you cant beat the Whipple. You dont get the whole package like with the Maggie, but when you have the pieces in place its a great setup and gobs of low end torque (especially with the 496). The STS might yeild you a little more HP for the same boost level though. You are not going to get much more than 7psi out of the 2.3L Whipple, its just not big enough to fill up the big block. I am very happy with my setup....I take it camping and on vacations and it runs like a top. At the track its not too shabby for a 7000lb truck either, I am not going to talk about the turbo because i have never driven (or even seen for that matter) a turbo'd 496 in a truck.

Tierod, be carefull on running to much boost. these trubos that STS provides are made to run a certain amount of boost. Brads on his camaro was running 6.5 psi.. we did a fmic and it dropped boost pressure at the manifold down to 4 psi. So he cranked the boost controller to get the pressure back... turbo only lived about 4 weeks. STS said with the fmic and him showing 7 psi that the trubo was making around 12-13 psi... which killed the seals, causing oil problem and it ended up eating its self.
