Great topic. Very timely for me. I weighing the pros/cons of a turbo.
I'm currenty running an intercooled Vortech on my Dodge R/T.

Some stats I've read say a SC requires 30 HP to make 100, a turbo needs about 16 to make 100. The benefits are obvious however the tuning part and kit availability make me nervous.

The retune oil system of the STS kit is one of the things that I wondered most about, however it has not caused one issue todate.

Wassup Makani?

I got some things to try if you are having oil issues.

------

I have had no trouble with my STS kit breaking anything. The numbers in my sig are from an aborted dyno run (set stuff on fire) and haven't been updated because of a hit and run. I have zero complaints about the STS.

Oh -- to the old style wastegate guys: Just flip the wastegate so the opening is pointing straight down (and leave it open to the air) and cap the exhaust pipe -- better performance that way.

No need to update to the new pipe IMO.

Venting striaght to atmosphere reduces the back pressure on the exhaust downstream of the turbo (less gas flowing in the same space).

Pic:

Literally, just removed the wastegate, flip it, and bolt it back on, then take care of the exhaust piece with a cap (or cut it out as I did).

The muffler in the pic is now off the truck It was too loud with the 408, !cats, and headers anyway (was a flowmaster series 10 race muffler). The only difference in sound between cutout open and closed was the frequency of the exhaust note lol.

I'll get some new pics for you when I get the truck home in the next few days. I now have a dynomax 3" camaro muffler where the spare tire used to go, but I went for low profile after the road rage incident.

The wastegate is much more noticable in the "down" position.
