Cool

I think that it is too far to go. It will create too much pressure drop before the turbo and drive your IATs through the roof. The compressor will have to work much too hard to build a set amount of boost. The work of the compressor is to compress the air available to it and not to have to fight to draw air in. At boost pressures higher than the base pressure you should not have anything on the intake to the compressor except a good high flowing filter. For day to day driving, using the base pressure of 5-6 psi, use the filter sock or the filter relocation kit but do not try to push any higher boost pressures as heat will build quickly in the compressor.

Thank's Jim... Heard another horror story of someone sucking up water over on another forum, so I was weighing my options... Do you notice any power loss when you have your prefilter on even in low boost??? I have kept mine on from day one even in high boost 8#s..

I relocated mine under the passenger side wheel well. Used 4" I.D. dust collection parts, I have posted some stuff about it in the recent past.
I notice absolutely no restriction or increase in IATs watching them on my predator live data page.
If you want I'll snap some pics if you want to see the whole set-up.
Routing it all the way back to the hood area would require about 15' of tube with all the bends and twists taken into account.

I nixed the filter box idea, that was my first shot at the filter relocation.
I had made a special bracket to mount it but all thats gone now. The dual K+N filters are the current set-up. Its tucked way up into the weel well now. I'll get ya some pics bro.

I'm going to look it into running into the inside corner of the bed. I have a tonno.

I read that same thing on the other forum and he had the problem going slow in 2-3" of water.

TG0, how much pipe are you using with your filter relo kit? I have my filter relo'd in front of my spare tire which puts the filter right above my rear differential. I am using about all of the pipe from STS' relo pipe kit. You said you checked EGT's with your setup and nothing changed. I've been curious if my EGT's have been affected any. I know it's easy for me to test, I've just not under there to move the filter around.

I use less than 4 feet of 4" diameter tube to get it from the turbo, over the frame rail and up into the passenger side wheel well. The total didtance may not even be 4 feet because the tubing is conpressable/collapsable.
I never checked EGT's, just IATs, if there is a restriction in your intake and you make it worse by using this set up, it will cause a heat build up as well. I've seen this statement made a few time on the site so it was the first thing I checked after relocating the filter.
Still don't have a wide badnd so I can't check EGTs as of now.
I look at it this way, if STS is selling a relocation kit, and mine has even less restriction than theirs I should be safer. I think the STS relocation kit is 3.0" tube, and I'm using 4" tube.
