i was going to do this when i had my truck. one thing different though, i was going to put it in my tool box and put a 4" hole on both side of the box by the bed sides. that way it would stay dry and be able to breath nice. my tool box was a floor mount kind not a rail mount.

I have a tonneau cover so water should not be a problem.
I'd go higher for sure. as mentioned your gonna get water in it like that.
I think if i go turbo's later i'ma get front mount. I like the concept of Remote mounted, but i'm not afraid to drive thru water thats almost to my bumper. With videos to prove it.
Some areas around here get a lot of high water and Remote mount just wouldn't be the best choice.

My wife would love it......not!

and but it back on the turbo....will only take a minute to do....

On a dry day I can open my tonneau cover and the filter will be in the high pressure area at the front of the box.....
