Default STS Buzzer going off and overboosting a little.

For the first time, well actually a couple of times, my STS alarm buzzer went off yesterday.
Both times it was under full throttle high boost setting.
My 2 stage controller has been set to 8psi high range, but for some reason I see it creep up to 10psi every once in a while.
Not sure if its the mechanical boost gauge I have or not, I need to try another gauge I think, anyway what is it that exactly sets off the buzzer?
Is it lack of oil at the return pump which would mean low oil pressure at the turbo?? I'm not concerned yet but have to fix the issue before I can't run full throttle anymore.
Could the STS return pump be going out?
Its been 1 year and about 3 months since I did the install.

The sts alarm goes off when there is pressure at the oil return pump. So the pump is not keeping up with the engine oil supply. There is too much engine getting to the pump, or the pump is getting lazzy.
I have to re-adjust my STS two stage boost controler every once in a while. and I have heard my sts oil pump alarm when it builds more boost than 12psi (I've hit 15psi a few times) I think you just need to turn the oil return pump up, I'm not sure how, as I have yet to do this. I'd fix fix the boost issue first.

If you remove the rubber top on the pump, you will find a allen head screw. just loosen that all the way. Even by doing that I still have my buzzer going off under high boost(18#-20#) I know that STS sells a high flow pump, because the Cartex Corvette on their page is using it. But I have been unable to get a hold of one........

The bigger pump ussually goes with the bigger turbos. 8ALTNG I'd give Dave/Rick a call and tell 'em you've got the little one maxed at 18psi and need the big'un. Bet you'd get a holta one then

The allen head adjustment is on the pressure switch, not the pump. It is right next to the pump; brass base, triangle shaped black plastic top with 2 wires going to it that should have a rubber boot on it. Start with a 1/2 turn clockwise and go drive it. That may be enough to make it stop going off as easy.

Been there done that. They are trying to tell me that the pump isnt my problem. They keep telling me it is crank case pressure. But I have no pcv, i have a breather run to both valve covers where the pcv used to be, and I have a breather on the oil cap. So I dont know what to do????? I guess the 4.8 is just to much for STS to handle

Got that problem too, can't vent the crankcase properly. I'm making a double puke tank set-up that will have a moisture seperator on the last line before going back to the TB to burn up the fumes.

While we are on the subject of crank case pressure, what does the solenoid valve do on the STS set-up, I know what the pressure switch does and have a vauge idea of what the solenoid valve does.

If you are talking about the stupid soliniod with a 1inch breather on it then nothing. I ran that thing for 2 weeks then got rid of it. I think that the problem (at least) in my case is that the pump caint keep up. I have no problem with crank case pressure.

8ALTNG have you tried running the pump on the fast speed all the time? Also, is your pump lower than your turbo?
