Default Something i noticed last night about my wastegate.

I have a plug in the top port. I know it is supposed to be vented. I am just wondering what it is going todo when i take the plug out. It has been like this since i installed the kit 1 year ago. The truck runs fine and Yep i am a dumbass.

it won't do anything, hook up a boost controller to the top port and turn it up

Is the bottom port connected to a boost source? If so, I suspect removing the plug from the top port will allow the wastegate to open easier, so less boost.

ive wondered about electronic boost controllers,

for example. my set up reaches full boost at 4,800k rpm 165kpa

can a controller keep the gate closed at lower psi to build boost faster??

say 165 kpa from 3k to 6k rpm range

I can hear my wastegate open before I even see boost on the gauge

It will add or subtract your spring pressure.

Yep this one does. Basically it applies pressure to the top of the wastegate to keep it closed until the controller reaches the correct psi thus making it spool faster.

This particular controller can use CO2 to apply pressure instead of boost pressure making it spool even faster.

Depending on how well the plug sealed, it might have been contributing to some extra boost. Since the air in the top part of the gate would have to compress for the gate to open. Might be entirely negligible, though.
