Recommendations on a turbo kit.

I have seen many people complain about the on3 kit, yet i have not had a single problem with mine. i took my time and followed the directions and the kit went on very easily and i did not have to modify a single thing for the kit to go on.
i have seen the trick and kb kits also on peoples trucks and they are seem to be great quality but i can not personally speak on how well they work since i have not had the opportunity to run one myself.
i also went with 80# injectors and 450 fuel pump.

I do not have any experience running either kit. I am currently in the process of helping a friend install the Trick kit on his silverado though. Everything is going well in terms of fit/finish. There was 1 issue, but it was resolved remarkably fast. I piece wasn't fitting right, an MMS was sent showing the issue (on a Sunday.) On Monday he had a tracking number for a new piece that was being sent to fix it. That's pretty amazing service in my book.

I went with the on3 kit and have had pretty good luck with it. There was a couple issues I didn't like about it but nothing major and nothing that would make me not recommend them. The first thing was the waste gate was just vented inside the engine compartment instead if routing back into the down pipe. So all I did was cut a hole into the down pipe and routed the waste gate through it. It worked well and I'm much happier with it now. Also the inside of the turbo manifolds piping had holes cut out that were a little too small for the actual piping from the exhaust. It would have been fine but because I'm picky I took my die grinder and ground out the inside diameter of the holes cut out to fit the shape of the other piping. (Look at the pictures). I did route the cold piping differently Than they had it routed and I only used about half of the supplied piping. I used a Deatschwerks 255 fuel pump and their 38 lb injectors (should have gone bigger) and I'm pushing 401/455 on a third gear pull on the dyno. And that is on 5 psi. The 255 will have plenty of fuel for 500 to the wheels. My truck is lifted and has 35's also so if it was shorter with smaller tires I might be fairly close to that. Good luck with what you decide. I have heard good things about the KB and Trick kit's as well so I personally don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The installation of mine went smoothly and I am very happy with the on3 considering all the bad mouthing of them out there. I am happy with their product. Especially for the price.
Heres how the pipes were before and I ground the out to match so they flowed better

How I routed the cold piping instead of coming up from the bottom

Yes 8 lbs would be perfect the only reason I'm not pushing more is because I don't have big enough injectors to support 8 psi. The stock 5.3 is pretty tough and I have personally seen 28 psi through a bone stock long block. 8psi will be fine. When I up mine I'm probably going to shoot for 10 or 12

Another option is Spike performance! Give Mario a call and see what he can do for you. They're a solid group of guys/company with hard to be prices and product. 8psi is very reliable for a dd! I drove around on a bone stock 5.3 for a while at that power level, and choda has clocked over 60k around that psi/power level on his daily driver.
