The question I have is there any thing I should do or buy that caught you off guard after you had it all together and running?

I havent picked a Turbo yet either. but Im looking for a good street and track Monster but still able to dailey drive " Little Lag ,Lots of HP"..How much can the stock motor handle?

Thanks for all the help..........

More questions to come......HAHAHA

Bigger injectors, bigger trans cooler, better SS lines and fittings (for reliability), wastegate (if running higher boost) air filter location (if you choose STS and see a lot of mud or rain), Intercooler or meth injection or both!! TR6 plugs, boost controller (if towing and playing with higher boost levels), Gauges for confidence things are running where you want them.

These are all the things I didnt count on when I started my project. Yours may be for a different use. I tow a lot so I had to be on the safe side. The end result is a very fast very big towing monster and I love it!!

Have fun.

When did you guys start to have tranny problem? How many miles did your truck have on it when you installed your Turbo?

Mine had 5,000 miles when I had the sts installed and 6,000 miles when I had the trans built. Lots of fun now.

there is a guy who installed a sts kit on a z71 ext cab with a 4.8 that put down 380 rwhp and 480 rwtq at 10# boost with an intercooler, those 4.8s dont seem so little now do they,( info from ls1 truck.com post) good luck on your build, i too am crossing my fingers on my tranny. i had 25,000 when i put the kit on and ive got 34,000 on it now with no problems but im getting an intercooler and going up to 8-10 # boost and i know some time im going to have to some tranny work, its all expensive!

Im runing a STS turbo on a 4.8 and have had great luck with it. I've got about 15-16,000 miles on it so far and haven't had any problems exept for a blown fuse on the oil pump when it got really cold. Aprently the pump dosen't like to pump cold oil in low speed when it below 0* outside . I called STS and they said they now have a switch to let you run the pump at high speed when it 's cold that fixes that issue. I guess I will be installing one of those. All I have done with the trans is put a Vette servo and a transgo shift kit. I run 7lbs daily and 10 lbs once and a while. I also have an intercooler.
