Procharger question?..
#1
I was thinking on my way home today about prochargers. There one thing i dont like is how the air filter is mounted behind the head unit and gets all that hot air from the headers...Well i was thinking couldnt i use a corvette kit? That way the charger is mounted on the passenger side and you could almost put the air filter in the stock location. Besides moving a couple hoses and the coolant resavore(maybe) i dont see why the vette kit wouldnt work? Has anybody else ever thougt of this or am i just crazy? Do you think it would work? Is there anything im over looking?

I made a cold air kit for mine but took it off. My iat's were the same with and without it. Once the air runs across the intercooler I believe it's going to cool it down to the same temp regardless of the air going into it. Only way I see anything different happening would be if the intercooler was very ineffecient.

corvette kit wont work because the pulleys wont line up because the truck accessories and f-body/corvette accessories are spaced away form the block differently. someone correct me if im wrong on that. also i think i heard that the charger is mounted low and might hit the truck frame when using a fbody/vette system on a truck w/ fbody acessories.

that is the exact reason I am doing the battery relocation...
my plans are to have the same guy that fabbed my intake-to-TB tube (alot like the one in the GTO below) fab one that will 180 from the back of the head unit and end w/ a huge DryFlow where the battery sits currently...
sorta like the ones below that Bob @ EPP fabbed up...but to the left of the head unit, between it and the alternator...due to the fuse box being in the way...
I can route cooler air to that location alot easier than where it is now...
the way I look at it, the ProCharger heats up the incoming air by compressing it...thus needing an intercooler to get the temp back down as low as possible before entering the TB...If I can provide the ProCharger with cooler air, the temp of the pre-IC air will also be lower and in turn post-IC air should be lower as well...all before a small shot of meth to cool the charged air even more...
