Default Procharger experts (and anyone else!!)

This is a question about the efficiency of a P1SC versus a D1SC. I know a S/C takes HP to make HP, and I believe the D1 is more efficient than a P1. I think the P1 is a radial design and the D1 is a spiral design, so does the D1 make more power at the same given boost level as a P1?

So my theory is that with a D1 at 12 psi would yield more HP than a P1 at 12 psi. Is my thinking correct? If so, does the additional power come from the more efficient design, or it just takes less power to turn the D1? Or both?

I am trying to weigh the pro's & con's of upgrading my P1 to a D1, and was thinking out loud about the performance increase, if any, of just making that change alone (with any tuning adjustments).

Thanks in advance guys,
S.C.

Think of the prochargers as turbos. Bigger turbos create less heat at the same boost level allowing you to run more timing and lower IATs are the main benefits I see of upgrading.

My IATs aren't bad in my book. Only like 20* above ambient on a WOT run.

I just wonder if it takes 40 HP to turn the P1 to make 10 psi, that a D1 would only take 20 HP to make the same? Those numbers are just for theory, I have no idea how much it takes to run those.

Thanks for the input Cody, I was starting to think people don't like me!!!!

We all love anyone is is foolish and crazy enough to try and make a truck go fast, start saving your money for all the **** that will happen once you get boost hungry and 5-6psi is not enough...just ask Cody.
