Default Procharded SS cam

Knocking the list down one thing at a time. Next on the list is a cam. Read A LOT of threads on good procharger cams. Seems anywhere from 218/224 560-570 lift on a 114 to a 224/230 585-595 lift on a 114-115 LSA is a good choice. Beings that this will be in a heavy truck Im thinking somewhere around 222/228 will be good. With 570/580 lift and 114 LSA. The cam will be matched with a circle D 3000 converter thats already in the truck. Any inputs or advice on some specs would be great.

Default cam

I'm running a Texas Speed Comp Cam that is .581-.591 lift and 224/230 at .050 and is ground on 114lc but I installed it at 112. Love it! Makes really good power throughout the whole powerband. I'm running a Vortec supercharger but pretty similar blower. This is my daily driver also. Has a nice lope to it at idle and has great throttle response.

I am running a TSP 224R on a 112lsa, it runs great in the truck.. I have yet to see any solid proof as to picking up HP on a cam swap, so it is staying in there..

Thanks for the input zittman. Is that an off the shelf texas speed cam? I like those specs. I want something to actually get the truck moving out the whole but pull nicely with the blower up top. I dont want to go to big and be a dog out the whole but I dont want to go too small and make the blower do all the work up top.

Iv read a lot about some guys running a straight up duration cam and running great. I had the 228R in my truck but took it out. If I still had that cam in the truck thats what I would be running but since I have to get a new on anyways figured I would go ahead and get a little split in the duration and a tad extra lift on the exhaust side.

Yah, I would think that if you have a good flowing exhaust that the duration won't play as big a role as if it were corked up.. My heads have been massaged a tiny bit.. Only thing maybe hurting me is the lsa, but I can justify that with more boost.. Even guys that run turbo's that have header style manifolds stick with straight up grinds.. You see the heavy exhaust duration on more log style set ups.. None the less 2 different kinds of boost, but

you should just drop the dough on a new cam and be the gennie pig!! I would REALLY like to see side by side dyno comparisons of straight duration to split duration on Centrifugal blowers

Ha I hear ya. I want a good choppy cam. It does't have to be radical just some chop without hurting the boost. I may go 112

On prochargers website it stated the ideal cam spec was a exhaust duration about 10* higher than intake and .1 more lift than intake. I'll see if I can't find the link. I'm going to run the comp 224/230 on a 114 when I go procharged.
