Need Stall Converter Help

It starts at around 24 degrees and then works it’s way down to about 16 degrees at the top of the rpm range before the 1 to 2 shift. AFR stays around 13 and then works it’s way down to 12 at the top rpm. Can I add more timing down low? It’s on E85 and compression ratio is around 10:1.

6.4lbs boost at 4,000 rpm’s and 23.8degrees
10.7 boost at 5,000 rpm’s and 21.7 degrees
16.2 boost at 6,000 rpm’s and 18.6 degrees
20.5 boost at 6,700 rpm’s and 16.7 degrees

Looks good to me as far as timing goes. Only other things I would check before i spent a bunch of money was that the timing was verified using a timing light and cam timing is correct

Ok sounds good. It was tuned on a Mustang Dyno by pretty solid tuners last year and I’ve just upgraded Transmission/Converter since then. I’ll double check timing and then if that’s good look for a better Converter. The prior converter with the 4L60 was just as tight. I have just added nitrous and I’m assuming that will smash through any sluggish starts but I’d like to try to better my best pass where I ran a 1.97 60’ at an 11.33 before I cheat with the nitrous.

Now you are going to have an actual 3700 rpm stall speed when you get the Circle D, and then add N2O? So will you be disappointed when the nitrous oxide raises the stall speed way above 3700? Did you tell Circle D that you added N2O?

Yesterday was just a quick call to see what they thought, but I didn’t mention the nitrous. I was going to call them back today and go for it, and I’ll be sure to mention the nitrous. I think maybe it can be tuned so the stall isn’t that inflated at the launch while on nitrous? Probably only going to be a 50 or 100 shot.

I gave Circle D a call and they were very helpful. I decided to get the 258mm 3700 stall on their recommendation. I will still pull out the Hughes and send it in for the update. So I will have an extra one or if anyone wants to buy it I can sell it. Thanks for the help and we will see how the Circle D plays out in a few weeks.

This was my old converter at 3800. Better have some good tires on it.
Your issue is the converter. The Hughes converter isn’t loose enough to build boost at the tree.
Had you been using a PD blower, it would have run well.

That’s what I’m looking for. Yes MT ET/Streets 275/40/r20. I’m looking to move that 2.0 sixty foot down a good bit.
