Need Stall Converter Help
#1
02’ Silverado single cab, 4700lbs, 20” wheels, 5.3l LM7, E85, Forged Internals, Cam-223/240 113 .590/.615, Built 4L80, Hughes 3000 stall, 3.73 rear end, Procharger D1X at about 20psi. Having a bitch of a time getting out of the hole. Seeing nothing better than a 2.0 sixty foot. The Procharger according to the data log really wants to kick in at about 4K rpm’s but it’s taking the truck over two seconds just to get there. For a 3000 stall, I don’t see any flash to that level at all just a gradual run through the rpm’s. I talked with Hughes and they did recommend a loser converter but I wanted to ask you guys how lose I should go? I still want it to be somewhat street frendly but with all the power I have I would also like to see at least a 1.7 or 1.6 sixty foot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like Circle D is the go to. My only problem is that Hughes will do one change for free. I mean I guess that’s not a problem but to switch brands right now to Circle D will see me out of pocket a thousand dollars or more. I’m relatively knew to all this and now after that fact it seems like everyone on here loves Circle D. Should have went with them first.

Where is it flashing at now?
Your weight, rear gear and tire are fighting against you. I'd go with their recommendation 1st instead of switching brands. A 3000 stall in my H2 will be completely different than in your truck.

Tim it’s not really flashing at all. Maybe up to 2000 but it really just looks like a steady rise of the rpm gauge. I agree with you, at this point I’m probably going to have to stick with Hughes as they said they would build it so that it flashes to 4K and that’s at least where I need it to be.

That sounds like a stock stall speed . I don't see how they could be more than 1000 rpm off on their estimate, unless they thought that you are making 20 psi boost at 2000 rpm. If they recommended the converter that you have based on everything that you said in the 1st post, you should switch brands. If you picked it out yourself from a catalog without consultation from Hughes, then take them up on their offer to restall it.
