Default Need some cam help.

So I'll be the first to admit it I don't know the first thing about cams. I'll start off saying I have a 2008 gmc 4x4 vortec max 6.0L, kb racing kit, 76mm turbo. Where do I start to look for a cam, the numbers are Greek to me so I don't get them. Also do I need a special cam for the vvt? Like I said be gentle, I don't know anything about them, thanks for the help guys!

You need to replace certain internal parts like your lifters. It's fairly easy... the only pain is that you have to pull the heads to get at them rather than just doing a typical spring swap. The good news is that you will have a much easier time with the springs once the heads are out of the truck.

This will help explain the cam specs you read as greek.

If the truck is just vvt then the lifters are fine...no need to replace , the dod lifters should be replaced.

Isky triple 212 cam has had good results with over all power band due to the lower duration. Idk if it will work in the vvt setup

I have seen a white rcsb 4X4 gmc run in the 9's with your set up and that cam.

Yes it would definitely puke. You would need a very strong 80e for those times.

And I thought the L76 was only DOD, not VVT. That early in the game only the L92 was VVT, right?

9s in the 1/4 mile? Agreed with Vortec350ss.
