Default need help deciding on trans....

Im tryin to decide what trans to put in my truck.either built th400 or built 4l80e.truck is lifted and is turboed also.36" tires 4:10 gears.truck is used for some occasional road driving and i use it in the sand dunes.any help would be great thanks

When you say road driving do you mean extended interstate trips or around town only? I would personally want the 80e if I took it on the interstate.

3rd is gonna be 2800rpm at 73mph, an od would be 2100rpm at 73mph

You need to decide if overdrive is a must or not. Look at some gear calculators and decide from there.

Only around town.not any long road trips or highway driving.

I think your numbers are off, my 4.10 gears and 31.2" tires put me at 2500rpm at 73mph.

I would do the th400 then. 50lbs lighter and every backwoods trans guy probably learned on one

He has 36" tires.

ok sounds good.thanks for some help.was trying to decide if it was worth spending all the extra money and **** for an 80e

I agree on the TH400 - you'll be set with that and can get them for dirt cheap!
