This is why I don't like using used parts. Especially installing multiple used parts at the same time.
The problem sounds like it is either the transmission slipping, or the converter is wrong for your application. It's most likely the converter that's causing the condition you are describing. A v6 converter is smaller, and going to feel alot looser. Behind a N/A 5.3 in your truck, I would expect it to stall higher and act like a performance converter. However, behind your blown 5.3, it's just not up to the task. Add to that the fact that you didn't check your transmission fluid before beating on it, and it was VERY low on fluid, and it's now likely that you've also damaged the transmission.

how much is a dayco replacement converter? 200-300? buy a circle D 2800-3000 and be done with it. like stated that converter is slipping. if you lock it at WOT you with mess the fins up.
high HP + crap converter = slow as *** with more problems down the road.
