The problem sounds like it is either the transmission slipping, or the converter is wrong for your application. It's most likely the converter that's causing the condition you are describing. A v6 converter is smaller, and going to feel alot looser. Behind a N/A 5.3 in your truck, I would expect it to stall higher and act like a performance converter. However, behind your blown 5.3, it's just not up to the task. Add to that the fact that you didn't check your transmission fluid before beating on it, and it was VERY low on fluid, and it's now likely that you've also damaged the transmission.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, good luck with the fix.
thanks bro, i just wanted to get my truck back on the road again since it had been parked for like 3 months. The trans was a free b and so was the converter. I only spend on the tranny mods so it can last me 2-3 months while i get the motor finished and 80e built. What im going to do this weekend is install the boosted gauge and see were im at. If thats good ill get a dayco replacment 5.3 converter and install it.

how much is a dayco replacement converter? 200-300? buy a circle D 2800-3000 and be done with it. like stated that converter is slipping. if you lock it at WOT you with mess the fins up.

high HP + crap converter = slow as *** with more problems down the road.

if you drove it that low on fluid i would almost bet you smoked the clutches. it doesn't take much.
