80e, my fully built 60e didnt like my N/A 418 much less a boosted stroker. 9.5CR would be good since it will retain low end tq but still handle all the boost your D1 can throw at it.

I'd say get an 80E and a 14 bolt... then you can beat the **** out of it daily and not have to worry about breaking it every time you pull out of the driveway...

You do have trans upgrade plans right? If you really are gonna do this no 65e is gonna handle what you have planned here.

Who are you having install the motor/trans? Also you find it MUCH easier to beef up the 10 bolt, aftermarket axles, locker etc. Im in the process of doing the 14bolt swap and there are alot of things to do to accomplish it and make it "right"

I'm still up in the air on the tranny as far as the builder goes. I think parish uses Finish Line right?

Parish:
Have you had any tranny trouble? What do you recommend?

There is a guy in the Richmond area named Ronnie Dorris (spelling) that was recommended to me by MTI. They say that he builds their transmissions and that they have had good luck with him. Haven't gotten a price yet but I think he might be a little cheaper than Finish Line. Does anyone on here have experience with this guy?

Is it a big deal to swap over to an 80?

I'm doing all the install myself.

Jeff at Custom Automotive Machine will be doing the engine build.
I worked for him doing cylinder heads for about 7 years and he does excellent work.

Just take it one step at a time. Build the 408 and replace what breaks next.
