Motor Grenade'd Looking for Feedback
#24
Well the rebuild is finally done and it is on its way back to me from Texas Speed at this very moment.
I have to say I am very pleased/impressed on how they handled this "refreshing" of my motor. They were very fair and accommodating in the rebuild letting me incorporate some changes.
I wound up having to get new pistons and go .005 over and a set of new Compstar I-Beam rods. Cylinders were a little out of wack from the initial tune that was in it to break in the motor and it turns out the Compstar H-Beam rods are only rated to 650HP.
I decided to upgrade to Lunati Link-Bar Lifters and went bigger on the CAM 231/242 .617/.610 113+ 2
And when she goes back in i will be running a set of ID850's and ARH 1 7/8 LT's.
While the engine was apart my tuner planted the seed that i may want to consider changing the reluctor to a 58x and running a newer e67 ECU eliminating the limitations and scaling inherent to the warren PCM in high HP applications. I couldn't resist and Texas Speed was very accommodating in changing out the reluctor and going to a 4x cam setup. Now i can put he motor in something newer someday.
So hopefully over the new couple of weeks i will have the time to get the blower back on and the motor back in its home. Then its off to the tuner to wire in CTS-V harness and e67. I'll try to post some pics as its progressing.
