Here are some pictures of the installed tank that Rick built. It fits great and gives me a nice capacity increase over the tiny plastic tank I was using, plus it fills up that empty space that was driving me crazy.

Somewhat of an issue I think I've found a fix for:

When the tanks gets to be about half empty (or half full if you fall in that category) the level sensor closes and causes the empty tank light to flash on. It's very annoying and distracting when you are turning a corner, stopping, or hitting a speed bump.

Maybe we should have made some baffles in the tank to keep the sloshing around down to a minimum. My fix (which I haven't installed yet) is a little $20 time delay-on relay. I'll wire in in series with the switch. When the switch closes (completing the circuit), the relay will start timing... after it reaches the setpoint (5 seconds or so) then it will start conducting current and then the light will finally come on.

I'll post again if this little gizmo actually solves the problem.

Where can you get TDRs or other electronic relays or timers that run off of 12 VDC?

Go ahead if you want send me the tank back. I will install some baffles around the sensor to try to lesson the headache..

I finally found a few on McMaster Carr. link

This relay is made by NCC National Controls Corporation, West Chicago, IL. (never heard of them before) Model No Q1T-00010-316. I don't think it is really rated for automotive use. 12VAC/DC, but I think there is only a 10% tolerance. I was going to add a diode to the circuit to waste a little more voltage to ensure it would never see more than 13 volts. (don't care if it doesn't work with engine not running and voltage drops too low)

Thanks Rick. If this timer doesn't work right, I'll take you up on that. I wish I would have thought of sloshing before.

Good looking work by Trick. Brian, do you know if the foam blocks for fuel cells are rated for methanol? If so you make be able to buy a block or two to stick in the cell and reduce sloshing.
