UPDATE: lol, still have pinned the crank pulley. waiting on my air compressor i ordered to come in. should be another 2 weeks. i did try to break the crank pulley bolt loose without air, but the motor just kept spinning and i couldn't get it loose. don't know what else to do besides wait on air so i can use a impact gun. any suggestions?

 

long *** breaker bar resting on the driver's frame rail area, and bump the motor over? but I am a crazy f'er too.........never tried it either, but in a pinch maybe if I needed to.........your call.

thanks guys, i finally found a Gates 111" inch (part# 041110) belt at Napa today and put it on. so far so good. I also picked up a 110.5" belt just to see if i could get it on. its close, but no way could i get it on there. i'm gonna try again to pin the crank pulley this weekend by shoving a long extension in there to see if i can get that bolt out. we'll see how it goes.

oh, btw, since i put a 1/2" shorter belt on, i was able to move my idler pulley down about a 1/2". I noticed that my tensioner is almost maxed out. only about 2 or 3 inches of play left in it. Is this bad? I can gain another 1/2 to 1 inch of play in it if i put my idler pulley back to the very top. what you guys think?

 

You can't get the 110.5 belt on? I have 100MM pulleys and was able to get a 110.5 belt on there with no problems. I didn't use the Metco's but rather some performance lightning pulleys. They look very similar, I will take some pics.

It takes some ***** to do the crank pulley right. I got by with a lug wrench jammed through it resting on the frame. I also used a breaker bar with a pipe on it for the bolt.

Feel like driving 3 hrs? Come on over and I'll do it.

 

hey krambo, my 111.0 is freaking tight, how in the hell did you get that 110.5 on?!?!? Seems to me, you don't want them to ***** to the wall tight right? I wonder if your performance pulleys aren't quiet 110mm. Hmmm.

kevin, how far are you from Carlisle pa? i'll be there for the all-truck nationals.

 

Yea, Bangor is near Bethlehem, Carlisle is about 2 hrs from me due west. PA is longer than one might think. I drove from the delaware river to Pitt in 3 hrs.

As for the pulleys,...I measured their diameter and they are indeed just about 4 inches (100mm). You guys got me concerned now, I am going to measure my crank pulley, alt,etc and make sure they are all where they should be.

One thing is that my belt isn't exactly brand new. There may be a little bit of stretching going on there. Don't get me wrong, it is tight and I am considering going to a 2.9" radix pulley so a longer belt may be in order.

 

yeh that 10mm is alot.

110mm = 4.33inches
100mm = 3.93inches

That makes alot sense then. Yours is considerably smaller, well small enough to get that smaller belt on there.

 

i guess i'm really confused now. why so much effort on breaking the crank pulley bolt loose? i know you have to keep the engine from spinning, but that bolt is only on there with about 30 ft/lbs of torque right?

oh, and if you're 2hrs WEST of Carlisle, than you're only about 1.5hrs from me here in pittsburgh.
