Default max boost for a stock block LQ4

How much can a 01 LQ4 take with a Procharger? Im currently see about 10-11PSI at 6300-6400. and want to take it to about 6800 which will get me around 13-14 psi I will be adding meth. will my stock pistons hold?

As long as you do not get any detonation, do you have the meth on and tuned yet?

Boost is boost when you're talking about this "max boost on xxx engine" it's all about the same for stock stuff threshold wise. Doesn't matter if it's out of a turbo, cent. blower or a roots/screw, pressure is pressure to some extent. Just with anything else, it has a lot to do with tuning and your patience to make it right before adding more boost. That's usually what gets people in trouble, no so much the actual boost level. Just because you're running x timing, y AFR, and z amount of boost doesn't meant its necessarily safe. Every engine is different. Doesn't matter if they were built on the same assembly line on the same day.

Plenty of N/A setups hurt top ends due to tuning, start adding pressure to that and the game gets more serious very quickly.

A safe and proper tune is the key to how much it'll take and survive.

My brother had about 13 psi on his 03 lq4 stock bottom end lysholm 2.3 blower 13* timing it was holding great till a valve spring broke and took out the motor. He was not using meth just 91 octane pump gas

A procharger setup would actually be more forgiving than a roots or turbo...when you have full boost at the engines highest VE point is when you have max cylinder pressure and really break **** (also where tuning is most critical). Seeing as how you will be well above you max VE rpm you shouldnt have a problem with 13-14lbs as long as temps dont get out of control.

ive hit over 21 psi on my stock lq9 and the lq4 is lower compression so in theory should be able to take more i would think. but you need to be running good fuel and tune needs to be dialed.

His does have the light rods in it... But should still handle 14psi no problem cause thats probably only like 9psi where the cam peaks.
