How can one tell if the Magnavolt is working properly? what happens if I unhook it and leave the fuel pump working in stock form? In other words, is the magnavolt really necessary, or can I live without it? thanks for the input.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? I would think you'd have a serious drop without it.

 

A stock ACDelco pump can handle 500+ HP easy. No need for the Magnacrap if you're tuned properly.

Not 100% sure but you're nowhere near that anyway.

 

As far as the OP question. The Magnavolt jumps up the voltage to the pump. Monitor the voltage to the pump is only way I know its working unless you could hear the pump spin up.
