I thought I remembered BigTex claiming like 30-35hp with his Z06 cam and his old Whipple set up...but I'm not positive.

we were going racing tomorrow but it looks like rain so we are going to slip a 2001 zo6 cam in there.

do we need to hold the lifters up or do most people just risk it?

Leave the pushrods in spin the cam and watch to see if any of the pushrods drop down if they stay up pull the pushrods and spin the cam a couple more times andpull it. If it drops you can use some 5/16ths rod down the oil galleyway to hold them up for sure.

Its been years, but I think I netted 29+ rwhp peak moving to a 01 Z06 cam from the stock 99 cam. At 6200 rpms, there was an 80 rwhp difference because the 99 cam was falling off so bad. This was without the whipple.

neat. we are going to try and hit up the dyno so we should have some before and after numbers. we will be spending the entire 2nd half of the 1/4 in the 5700-6200rpm range so this could help us out quite a bit.
