Default Lq4 piston limits.

I have a lq4 shortblock and I've Ben reading that the rods are usually the first to go. I wat to run a forged rod but possibly leave the stock pistons for now. Anybody kno how much abust a stock lq4 piston will take?

I'm running arp head studs and rod bolts.

if your going to do any work to the rotating assm. you might as well do it right. i went threw two lq9'S before i learned my lesson. do the rods and pistons and you will be good then turn up the boost and have even more fun !!! oooh yea my first lq9 it had piston soup lol

The rods will let go first if you have a perfect tune and really good fuel beyond 800hp. If it detonates just a little those pistons will go well before anything else.

like stated, they handle just about as much as forged. But any hint of detonation and there gone. Forged is added protection. forged crank isnt needed at all IMO,

I hate the feeling of being in to deep to stop.

How long did the crank hold up at 1000 hp??? And is that actual rwhp or at the flywheel ?? I have a balanced GM 3.622 crank and were going to have to detune my truck to 525 rwhp to keep from loosing my bottom end
