Knock sensor questions?
#1
Here "s the story: Park my truck on Saturday running fine. Monday runs really sluggish. Knock retard pulling 7.9 deg of timing.timing advance drops to 0 which certainly explains sluggishness. Seems to only happen it goes into PE mode. NO audible signs of detonation. stayed in throttle once to see what would happen and it kicks a PO327 code ( knock sensor). I found somewhere that the knock sensor should have 93k-107k of resistance. I test them and one shows 100k and the other is 2000m ohms. I figure I have a bad sensor.
Before I pull the blower off I run the truck with the sensors disconnected. stills runs bad, but no codes.
I also rigged another set of knock sensors and harness by grounding the body of the sensors.that didn't change anything and it still pulls timing.
I ordered a couple of new sensor but now I'm afraid that not the problem.
Could someone explain how the knock sensor system work.
I know the sensor are set to respond to a certain frequency, but how? does the computer read a certain amount of resistance or voltage and what should it be?
Thanks
