Default Intercooler worth it?

Guys, I did a search first on this one and I think got my answer from Blown, but just want to confirm. I have an 01 RCLB and was looking at the non intercooled radix. I would really only run the stock boost (so I say). So I'm wondering if the intercooled package would be worth it. how much extra does it get me 20-40HP/TQ? I don't do a lot of towing and the truck does the occasional weekend haul.

Thanks,
Andrew

Yes it will help a lot. The only way I would say you might be ok without one is if you plan on running some kind of water/meth injection to cool in a different way. I ran my truck around with a dead i/c pump for awhile and it sucked.

Without the i/c in decently cool weather (70* or so) I saw my IAT's up as high as 237 on a long WOT run, with the i/c I won't get over 160* on the same run, even in 100* weather.

On the Magnuson tune the timing is pulled way back over 160* IAT, and it will be hard to keep it below that when you are running WOT with no intercooler.

You're running your own tune with EFI thought right? you just kept that table the same?

So what you guys are saying is that it's worth it.

Get the intercooler. Period. Regardless of boost you will be better off.

My table is different, but it still pulls tons of timing up that high. Yes, it's definitely worth it. You may be happy with the $$ savings now but you will want to kick your own *** later.

I resemble that remark...... I started with a non-intercooled Vortech at 6 psi...Was told I didn't need no stinkin intercooler.... The person who told me that had no clue to my addictive personality... I am now running 12 psi of boost now without an intercooler...... but lots of water/meth..... anyone have a intercooler they want to sell...? Those pulleys are just so darn cheap.....

Did I mention I live in Florida..........
