Default intercooler!!!

I run meth injection but would like to install an i/c. A barrel style water to air would be the easiest for me. But I've been debating a custom air to air with a 24 or 28x12x3 or so i/c up front. My question is on piping. I can get a Powerstroke alum i/c from my friend for $50. It's got the inlet/outlet openings in the middle on each side vs. offset corners top and bottom. If I did that, the piping would have to make 90 degree turns right off the bat. Is that going to cause a performance or boost loss?

That is a 24x12x3 ebay intercooler mounted behind the bumper. It worked out well with a sheet metal scoop mounted.

mzoomora, I've thought about that type of mounting setup but wasn't sure about road trash busting a core. I was wanting to stick with an OE i/c from either a Cummins or PSD. I was afraid of the ebay i/c's in comparison to the factory equipment. How much boost loss did you have with that or did you ever run your turbo w/o it? I know I crank on my electronic boost controller to add another psi or so for the i/c loss.

Cool

I don't know but I often hear about a 2-3 lb loss for an IC and tubing. Yes you will probably be able to crank your boost control to make up for it and more once the IC is up and running.

I mounted my Ebay cooler out front. Works great. I have never seen IAT over 128-130 even on hot days and 10 lbs of boost. Didn't have any boost loss, because I referenced the waste gate to the intake manifold.

Wow, that's a nice setup behind the bumper. Might have to check out my space. I have my wastegate boost point coming off the manifold too.

I thought about that way also but the 04 front end doesnt have a decent opening down there. My intercooler is also higher than the frame crossmember in the front so it is pretty well protected from road debris.

eBay link Here's one I found really quick, but there lots of people selling them, both the 3" and the 4" ones. Mine is the 3" and says OBX on top of it, but it the same thing and works great too, plenty of cooling.
